Built EV charging infrastructure from the ground up — 1,000+ devices deployed with partnerships including Uber Jump, Lime, Bird, and Rivian.
Context
Grido was an EV charging infrastructure startup building the backbone for micro-mobility and electric vehicle charging in urban environments. As part of the founding team, Guillermo owned product and operations from day one.
Challenge
The EV charging space was nascent and fragmented. The team needed to build hardware-software infrastructure from scratch, secure partnerships with major mobility players, and deploy at scale in a market with no established playbook.
Approach
- 1.Defined the product strategy for the charging platform, covering hardware deployment, software management, and partner integrations.
- 2.Built and managed the operations pipeline for deploying 1,000+ charging devices across urban locations.
- 3.Negotiated and secured partnerships with Uber Jump, Lime, Bird, and Rivian to drive utilization of the charging network.
- 4.Designed the operational workflows for device monitoring, maintenance, and network expansion.

Takeaways
- •Hardware-software products require tight coordination between physical deployment and digital management — you can't iterate as fast as pure software.
- •Partnerships with established players are the fastest path to utilization in infrastructure businesses.
- •Founding-stage infrastructure startups need operators who can think in systems, not just features.
